Corry: 6-7-8-6—–27
GM: 5-6-2-2—-15
Corry traveled to General McLane to take on the Lancers in girls basketball action Thursday night. It was neck and neck for the first two quarters with Corry up 6-5 after one and 13-11 at the half.
It was everything we expected. We knew GM plays hard all the time. It was going to be an all-out battle for both halves.
Both teams started cold in the third quarter. After some foul trouble for the Beavers, Molly Irwin and Madi Leofsky came off the bench and made an immediate impact. Corry was able to get a couple buckets to go up 17-13. With just under a minute left, the Beavers went off for 4 more points to take a 21-13 lead after three. Corry continued to dominate on the defensive end of the floor in the fourth quarter by holding the Lancers to two points while scoring another 8 to earn the victory with a final score of 27-15.
Grace Allen led all scorers with 9 pts-2 assists followed by Rylee Nickerson and Regan Kemp with 6 pts each, Haley Mumau with 3 pts-4 assists, Molly with 2 pts, Madi with 1 pt, and Ava West with 1 assist.
Defensively, we were led by Ava with 6 rebounds-2 steals-2 blocks followed by Rylee with 6 rebounds, Regan with 4 rebounds-1 steal-1 block, Madi with 4 rebounds-1 block, Regan with 4 rebounds, and Haley with 1 rebound-2 steals-1 block.
